Oh, hey gang. Don't you start your day at the kitchen table with a plate of pastries, a cup of jo and a laugh or two?! All kidding aside, there's nothing better than a good cup of coffee and delicious scone, muffin, oatmeal bake, etc. in the morning. Give me all the breakfast foods. Gang, it's true. You can achieve goals and enjoy the foods you love! Even over the holidays. Here are a few tips to help during the upcoming holiday/travel season! 5 TIPS TO HELP YOU HIT YOUR MACROS To track or not to track - That is the question and a personal choice. Personally, I prefer to loosely track. This way I can still enjoy myself without going overboard. 1. Hit your Protein The one macronutrient that is hardest to hit is protein. However, protein is the key to fat loss, maintaining muscle growth and recovery. 2. Always Travel with Snacks My toddler isn’t the only snack queen in our house. Packing all the snacks is the key to keeping your intake dialed in. As you may or may not know, traveling, whether for work or pleasure, can disrupt your normal routine. Snacks are key to keeping you on track when you need something quick. To help hit your protein goal, pack snacks high in protein to fill in if you're falling short. 3. Plan Ahead Just like at home, plan ahead. Focus on veggies and lean meats throughout the day and enjoy what you want for dinner. This is also a great opportunity to practice mindful eating. For example, opt for an egg-white omelet at breakfast. Drink an Americano instead of a whole milk latte. Choose a chicken breast at lunch. You get the idea. Although you may not be able to track while traveling, you are making the effort to manage your intake and maintain those goals. 4. Limit Alcohol Intake One drink is fine, ok maybe two, but more than that will start to negatively impact your results. Just because you're traveling doesn’t mean you should burn the house down. Enjoy a drink or two, but don’t go overboard. 5. Memories Over Macros If you're on vacation, you need to enjoy yourself! It didn’t matter how small I was I always felt like I had to cover up my body.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ The picture on the left I was the smallest I had ever been, even smaller than high school. I was on a retreat I had earned with a bunch of other ladies and I clearly remember not being able to enjoy it. I felt fat and insecure. You should have how many clothes I brought for just a few days because I was SO anxious about my body. Covering it up with flowy clothes was my defense.⁣ ⁣ I just wanted to be able to feel secure, own my body and be confident. डोले शोले वाली देसी लड़की💪🏻 (Indian girl with guns💪🏻) . Out of the many things that I was advised on while I was in India this was the funniest- strong muscles do not look feminine on Indian girls🤣 . Some prefer that an Indian girl should be lean before she gets married (how else will she qualify to get a tall, dark, handsome groom, right?😏) , they also think that a sign of a well-fed married woman who is ready and physically capable to have kids is that she gains about 10-15 kgs after she gets married😑 . When I was constantly told that I am TOO THIN and DO NOT LOOK LIKE I AM MARRIED, I tried to explain that I am strong and flexed my arms haha😂 and heard another lecture of how muscles look too manly on Indian bahu😏 . I am not trying to bash my culture or my family, but I am trying to encourage all my fellow Indian women to consider strength training and not be afraid to lift weights even if your family/friends tell you otherwise. . Having muscles is not only aesthetically pleasing (at least it is to me), it also speeds up your metabolism, prevents you from osteoporosis and slows down the aging process. . I GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I DID NOT HAVE ONE DIET LEFT IN ME. . I hated this picture back when I took it (in my eating disordered/chronic dieting days) because I was bloated and my stomach wasn’t perfectly flat. . I got to a point where I just couldn’t do: 😞 one more ab check in the bathroom mirror 😞 one more binge because of restriction 😞 one more week of dry chicken and 1/4 cup of steamed broccoli for dinner 😞 one more exhausted 3 hour workout for the 7th day in a row 😞 or one more hour wasted on looking up a new diet plan or workout routine. . . It took my last and final diet to realize that they just weren’t working. I mean, they worked when I stuck to them for a week or two, but they all created so much restriction that my body biologically fought back to keep me alive. . Your body doesn’t know the difference between famine and a diet, so it will naturally send you signals like cravings and constant thoughts about food to give you warning signals to find food FAST! ⚠️ . I wanted my life back. I wanted my body heat back and I wanted MYSELF back. I was so tired of thinking about food 24/7 and I just wanted to feel “normal” around food again! . Hello…just wanted to check in with you guys since it’s been awhile. It’s been a week since I’m been back on keto and I am feeling great. I did go off plan on Friday to celebrate my friend’s milestone birthday but the next day I jumped right back on track. No guilt…and it feels great.🙌🏼 Luckily I did not get the keto flu this time around. Not like I had it bad before, but I had no headaches, fatigue, or muscle cramps. I think it’s because I have been keeping up with my electrolytes. Thank you to my Aunt   @nataliaskincarespecialist   for telling me about this Alkaline 88 Water with Himalayan minerals. It helps me get my water in as well as my electrolytes. It costs around $3 a bottle. I found it at my local HEB. $3 for 3 liters of water is pricey to me, so I stretch it out. I will typically drink 1 glass of the alkaline water and then alternate it with regular filtered water. Have you tried this water?💦
